Maço started out as a very reserved dog with people, always central to activity while maintaining a safe distance. He would follow new visitors from one end of the sanctuary to the other and watch as they exited to be sure they left the campus. Nothing happened without his notice. He's a fascinating dog with inscrutible eyes, behind which there is a lot going on, but he does not share his secrets with humans. He is best friends with two sisters, Åžeker & Åživa, who are close to him in age and shared his caution around people. Maço loved to join volunteer Zuhal when she walked her dog, PaÅŸa, through the woods. He would dart ahead of them, up and down the trail. Gradually, Zuhal was able to pet him and stratch his back. Though he was shocked that she was touching him, he had to admit that back scratch felt really good. With increased socialization, everything has changed. Maço is now eager for human attention -- probably hoping that visitors will give him a good back massage.

Maço her ne kadar olayların merkezinde olmayı sevse de önceleri oldukça çekingendi ve insanlara mesafesini koruyordu. Yeni ziyaretçileri barınma merkezinin bir ucundan diÄŸerine kadar takip edip onların kampüsü terk ettiÄŸinden emin olmadan geri dönmez ve onun dikkatinden hiçbir ÅŸey kaçmaz. Ardında pek çok ÅŸey olup biten esrarengiz gözleriyle Maço büyüleyici bir köpek. Onun en yakın arkadaÅŸları ise kendisi gibi insanlara mesafeli olan ve yaÅŸça da Maço'ya yakın olan Åžeker ve Åživa isimli iki kız kardeÅŸ. Maço gönüllümüz Zuhal köpeÄŸi PaÅŸa'yı ormanda yürüyüÅŸe çıkardığında onlara katılmaya bayılıyor. Ancak sonrasında koÅŸmaya baÅŸlayarak onları geride bırakıyor. Zamanla Zuhal onu sevmeyi ve sırtını kaşıyabilmeyi baÅŸardı. Maço her ne kadar kendisine dokunulduÄŸu için ÅŸaşırmış görünse de, sırtının kaşınmasından çok mutlu olduÄŸu belli oluyor. Maço artık insanlardan ilgi görmeyi seviyor ve muhtemelen ziyaretçilerin ona güzel bir sırt masajı yapmasını umuyor.​
