The Sanctuary
Nestled in the woods of the idyllic Boğaziçi University campus in Istanbul, Turkey, sixty-six dogs are fed, housed and lovingly cared for. Defne Arsoy and Ahmet Çolak manage the facility under the auspices of the university's Wildlife Conservation Commission. Tentative plans for an upgrade of the facility reflect the university's understanding that stray animals are part of the community and it is in everyone's best interest when they are healthy and treated with compassion, respect and kindness.
How You Can Help
There are many things that you can do for the canine residents at BU Paws. Volunteer and visit the sanctuary, walk and play with the dogs, brush them. You can also donate or participate in the Foster Family Program, ideal for people who love dogs, but can’t have one at home. A minimal staff with limited resources attends to the basic daily needs of sixty-six dogs, which leaves little time for the thing they need the most: individual attention and affection. For this, we need volunteers.
Our Donors
Three categories of donors help our dogs in very important ways.
KAP Donors give 200 TL every month for the dog of their choice in the Koruyucu Aile/Foster Family Program (KAP).
GOODS & SERVİCES Donors contribute materials and/or labor to help the sanctuary
PERİODİC Donors make one-time, short-term or periodic financial gifts.
